I decided to listen instead of reading your post. what a sweet experience. Your calming voice with undercurrents of ripples of enthusiasm lulled me into a meditative space- as if I too was swimming around in the softness of this inviting negative space. Thank you for this experience. I am happy I recently stumbled upon one of your posts and we have made a connection. I too am new to Substack (end of July ‘22) and am also a trained yoga teacher who understands and appreciates the stillness of the pauses well- who lets my creativity to flow without forcing it. My intense problem solving days are hopefully behind me as well. I am inviting in more ease and joy. I appreciate all my substack subscribers and readers so very much, especially those like you, who take the time to comment- the emotionally generous ones. Thank you!🙏

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed my voiceover, Susan. Thank you for sharing about your experience; that is very special to me. I'm glad to be connected in the beginning of our Substack journeys. That just made me so happy to learn you are a yoga teacher with a value for similar things (I start my yoga teacher training on the 28th!). Cheers to more ease and joy for your days. I am so grateful for you too. The interaction with you and other readers/writers has been life-giving for me!

"I think I finally snapped (or I just got tired enough). I decided I’m not going to wait until “everything is in order” to sincerely enjoy my life." this is such a beautiful awakening - need a heart emoji but I'm on my computer so just intuit one :)

Haha I'm replying here on my laptop too, so we are emoji-less together. Thanks for reading and sharing your response Kara. Yes indeed, I am stoked to have had this awakening. Hard stuff is inevitable, but it doesn't have to control everything! That's one thing I love about your daily posts. You always have a fun view of things, even things that a lot of people might likely overlook. You make it all sacred, interesting, and fun. I'm glad to be connected with you!

Gah that’s so nice. And YES I’m semi-obsessed with the thought that we have a lot more choice in our lives than we are taught. It’s a choice to embrace the full spectrum of a day, and I also find myself thinking: okay, what can I do inside this limited zone of circumstances? I know from experience that creativity thrives in limitations. I’m trying to experiment with the idea that a life & heart can too 🕺🏽 I’m back on my phone now haha. Really glad to connect too! Your openness is illuminating.

Dearest Jeannie,

It's so very true that it is not about doing, it is about being. In the Tao Te Ching, Lao-tzu (550 B.C.E.) insists on 'wei wu wei', doing not-doing. Now we have Nike's slogan 'just do it', an excellent commercial slogan; that could have been great if Nike had chosen "Just Be It"

Thank you for your insights; and thanks to the Beatles for "Let It Be."

Wise words here Duke. Thank you always for reading and for the thoughtful way you respond. The timing of your comments on the Tao Te Ching & The Beatles is absolutely stunning. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s newsletter which mentions both!

Happy New Year! Congrats on 65 subs. You have a good thing going. Plus your writing is strong :) Keep it up!

Loved this:

“In 2022, I let go of hyperfocusing on difficulties and challenges. I finally became aware of my tendency to make hurdles and obstacles the main subjects of my life. This is natural and normal as a human. We have this master problem solving brain. We are constantly finding solutions to problems. Enjoyment often only comes into the picture as the end goal.”

Yes!!! I’ve learned over the years if I let go of trying to constantly solve everything in my life--if I just let life happen--things magically feel easier. And everything shakes out how it’s ultimately supposed to.
