I don’t have many words beyond the daily contemplations this week.
I acknowledge the [perpetual] heightened tensions around the country and the world right now.
I’ve always drawn connections between the micro and macro. I believe we are always feeling very similar things on both an individual and a collective basis.
We are on the brink of some incredible shifts, no matter what camp you are in or “side” you have chosen. Being on the verge of anything is tumultuous.
For a micro example, I have noticed attempts from myself to sabotage some wonderful (albeit mysterious and still somewhat unknown) things coming into fruition in my and my family’s life. These attempts are usually disguised as me trying to figure it out and make plans when the way isn’t being revealed fast enough according to my arbitrary timeline. When I let myself be led by anxiety and fear like that, the solution I come up with somehow has me on a plane to another country, never talking to anyone I know again. I hope you’re laughing, and I hope you believe me. Our minds can start buzzing just like the damn media I wish people would stop consuming as soon as possible. They thrive on fear and negativity, looking for everything wrong with the world and the things that are far from a solution.
A solution to the big things is always far away because any change starts on the micro level. That means you and me. It’s why I write about becoming well established in oneself. When we become rooted and pointed, we can better help our family and our community, which then creates a culture that feeds into surrounding regions, and so on and so forth.
I hope these daily reflections can take a small part in soothing any sabotage you may be experiencing.
We’re in this together.
SUNDAY
MOTIVATION
Why do we do anything we do? Follow the question back to the ‘why’ under each uncovered layer. Boil it down until we find the fundamental thing that drives us. We can take it piecemeal. It can take a long time or a very short time to trace back through the stepping stones of reasons. There has been a certain guiding force acting as the undercurrent of our actions. It is your friend. Don’t shy away from it. Trust it. If you don’t believe it, keep digging to get to its root. Once you’re there, let yourself remember. What you wanted then, you still want now. This intention has led your journey all along. Instead of denying our basis, we can receive its help in return. We consider the possibility that a desire was placed in us on purpose. Not every desire is selfish or a source of guilt. Sometimes they are a compass, pointing in the direction that is aligned with us. Sometimes they are an anchor, bringing us back to the original center of our existence. Why do we do anything we do?
MONDAY
SUPPLE
We cannot control the wind. We can work with it. It may even require us to lay down all our efforts thus far. It is a temporary kneel until the testing gust blows over, then we stand back up, stronger for it. There is nothing to fight and everything to pay attention to. Learn the nature of things. Look the world in the eye. Yes, we call this a brave thing now, seeing things for how they really are. Even still, the sight may vary from person to person. And so, the only path to omnipotence is to listen and learn from others. When we try to control them, we also limit and ultimately break ourselves. The inflexibility can cause us to snap. It’s better to soften and offer attention to what has clearly found us for some purpose or another. Stiffen and dry up, or move with it, and polish the track. Either way, it’s taking some of us with it. We cannot control the wind.
TUESDAY
GOODBYE
The end of one season and the beginning of a new one need each other. An end needs somewhere to send us. A beginning asks that we have closure with the place we just came from. Grief is a part of change, therefore grief is a part of both the closing and the opening. Give emotions a place to flow. Water is a sign of health, even coming out of your eyes, like the dew releasing from the flower’s stem and leaves beginning to grow. This is the same element that helped you surrender your previous dying layers back to the soil. It helped grow your seed into roots, into a sprout, and now a rising stalk toward the blossom you are so patiently manifesting. Every place you’ve been will always be one part of the whole of you. Honor what is ending so that it may stay where it is and not haunt you. Step into what is beginning, so it doesn’t have to drag you. This will be as smooth as you make it. The end of one season and the beginning of a new one need each other.
WEDNESDAY
BE
There is nothing you need to put on anymore. There is nothing to change when the new day comes and the rising sun reveals you. There are more precious things in life calling for your energy. Sit in situations without mustering up a personality that’s not yours. Channel your energy toward the situation itself instead of engineering some sort of facade around it. Those are covers we used to put on as protection. We understand the larger process watching over us now. We are taking our rightful place within it, and it wants to preserve us. So let the light shine on you. The more you fully receive it, the more it reflects out through you. A receptive posture is relaxed. It is soft like a sponge. If anything has you tense or tightening up, take intentional measures to deflate and put yourself at ease. There is nothing you need to put on anymore.
THURSDAY
SUNBATH
Remain in the center of the light, and it will move on your behalf. It continually pulls impurities to the surface. It doesn’t mean you stop or cover up again. Carry on. The night will inevitably come, and, just like the moon, you continue to reflect the light, which is the source of your life. Be renewed and rest while your body generates new cells. This is growth. It can be quiet. It can be calm. It can be easy. We are neutralizers in a volatile environment. This happens by not entangling ourselves in every aspect of it. We know our place and respect the space of others. By staying in our lane, our focus produces effective interaction with the world. When we are distracted with the actions of others, we drift into no man's land- neither here, nor there. We each have the privilege to walk our own walk and live through each of our own struggles. We can value and enjoy peace by way of the personal war we already waged. If it seems someone in your realm is waging a war against themselves, you, or others, remember there is only so much you can do for them. Remain in the center of the light, and it will move on your behalf.
FRIDAY
LIMBO
There is a circular motion to a holding pattern. What seems like a pause in your “forward” or “upward” trajectory is actually a part of the route. Follow the prompt to circle back to something. You don’t need to have a particular reason why, other than you feel like doing it. If the way forward still isn’t clear, allow yourself to reference back to something else you may have started or someone you meant to connect with. Recall this isn’t a race. It’s okay to go slow. Rushing the loops only makes us dizzy. This is another place we can be fully, offering our full attention. Like every other crossroads, it is here to give us something for the journey ahead. It’s common to feel like something is wrong during this time. After all, you’re suspended in air, waiting for the next trapeze bar to appear for you to take hold of. The force that keeps you floating is trust. Trust might ask you to revisit something. Trust might ask you to change your mind. Trust might ask you to let go. Let it turn you into the next version of yourself. There is a circular motion to a holding pattern.
SATURDAY
ATTRACT
There is no such thing as too simple. Take things for face value until more is revealed. If you want to know more, and it’s not being revealed, ask. Some are afraid to ask questions because it reveals what we don’t know. We are eager to give answers because it shows what we already know. May we remember to ask as many questions as we answer. It is another important exchange with the environment around us. As we allow the dialogue to happen, new and interesting bonds form with other root systems, aromatics, and auras. As you lean into the chemistry, a new depth in yourself is found. A new compound is formed. All of this… from simply being you, staying in your lane, and trusting something bigger than yourself. You have drawn this goodness toward yourself. You may even feel like you’re being romanced. It’s because you have allowed your true nature to come through. It harmonizes with the rest of nature. It resonates with other souls because their true nature (whether realized or not) recognizes the truth in you. Like energy attracts like energy. There is no such thing as too simple.
