In true Seeing Upside Down fashion, I started all of our new journey together backwards last week. Here is the link to the post.
I have a knowing that I am moving forward and into a new season of growth, really with everything and, more specifically, my writing. I jumped straight from that knowing directly to the part when I ask for your support, skipping over a chance to get specific about what you potentially may or may not want to support.
I am so grateful to each and every one of you who has read, shared, liked, commented, and subscribed, whether you selected the free or paid option. Thank you for supporting the expansion of my creative work. My dream is that it becomes so much more than that. My dream is that this becomes a provision for people. The dream really circles back to the reason I started pursuing this in the first place. It is about the voice and the presence I find every time I sit down to write. It feeds my soul. It illuminates what is real and true in my life. The more I keep coming back to it, the more I develop a sense of responsibility as a conduit for it. This goes beyond you supporting me. My dream is that your investment (whether that be your time reading, your effort to share/like/comment, or your finances for a paid subscription) becomes you supporting yourself. If I nurture this in a way that it can feed someone else, independent of me (after I click publish), that’s the dream.
In a writing and embodiment workshop that
(name links to his Substack) put on with (name links to her Substack) back in September, Jed said: “Create something that can stand up and walk out of the room without you.” (I’m also just so happy that Jed has a Substack now, so I was determined to find a way to tag his name this week)That really resonated with me. It’s been coming up in my yoga classes too. I’ve been telling students that my dream is for them to remember things we do in class so they can bring the practice home with them, or wherever they go when they travel.
My dream is that this becomes a provision for people.
My philosophy in writing is the same as my philosophy in leading a yoga class. I am not here to tell you anything you don’t already know. I am here to help guide you back to the inherent wisdom you already hold within you. Yesterday, my sister-in-law reminded me of this concept of… being reminded. She referenced something she listened to that pointed out how we are better to be reminded than instructed. It confirmed this hesitancy I always feel about saying I’m a “yoga instructor” or a “yoga teacher.” I like what my old guru Duke used to say: “I’m a pointer.” I have studied extensively and will continue to learn a variety of modalities to facilitate illumination for others within themselves. If there is a path to be uncovered through any of this, it is your own. It is your unique journey back to your own source of knowing, your experience, your understanding of God/a higher power/the universe/Spirit within you, and last but not least, your unique way of sharing your God-given gifts with the world around you. Consider this a portal to your essence.
That’s the title of my first book: Essence.
Since April, an element of my posts has been sharing, in real time, the contemplations I’m writing for the book. I’ve dropped two more this week, which you’ll find below.
I asked for your blind faith last week, especially if you’re fairly new around here. A couple of you subscribed based on that or past writing, and I thank you.
For the rest of you, I imagine you would like to know how a paid subscription will add value to your life.
Before I get into specifics: one thing you can count on here is honesty, candidness, and vulnerability. I spent most of my life filtering and fabricating myself to please other people, or try to prove something to them, until it nearly killed me. I know I am not the only person, especially not the only woman, who is still recovering from a life lived in that way. I’m not interested in putting up any facades or fronts here, including any notion that I have all of this figured out. In my video last week, which is available for everyone to watch (until the post goes behind a paywall after four weeks), I talked about moving forward, despite not having every detail organized. “We grow as we go.”
Free subscribers will continue to receive:
* Sunday posts
*Video check-in once a month
Paid subscribers will receive:
* Subscriber-only posts (Certain weeks, I will post more than once)
* My full archive (On the work list this week: organize my archive into labeled, themed sections, so that past posts are easier to navigate)
* Weekly video check-ins (as opposed to once a month)
* Any shared practices, such as yoga, meditation, and sound baths, typically done through video
* Insider's scoop behind the contemplations I write. In other words, you get to hear how one or multiple come to pass, and therefore, how you have the ability to connect with it in your own unique way.
I have updated my About section, found at the top of my main page jeanwinks.substack.com. For those of you who usually read this in your email, you can always find all my published work at that website link: jeanwinks.substack.com.

A shorter version, a pop-up people will see the first time they visit my page, is:
This newsletter offers contemplations to connect with your intuition, resources to calm your state, and relevant personal stories in order to discover your own inner seeing. See in to see out. See up to see down. This is Seeing Upside Down.
It is becoming very clear, very fast that people are desperate, in despair even, for truth, justice, and wholeness in the world we live in.
I do not believe we are here to change the world. We are here to create it.
The only way to a better physical realm, where our physical bodies reside, is through our connection with the spiritual realm, or energetic realm, if you prefer, where our spirit, or energy, resides. It is invisible, and that is why I believe it is a challenge for many to connect with their intuition, or their inner knowing. We are not made whole by anything outside of ourselves.
We are created whole and complete.
Every path leads back to where we came from.
My name is Jeannie Lynn Wagner.
I am a bridge.
I am a scribe.
Love has called me to this moment.
May Love always be our guiding light.
Two more contemplations for book in progress:
COMPELLED
What beckons you? A voice gently calls to you. Another voice aggressively pressures you. One magnetizes your heart while the other spins your mind. Which one requires you to slow down? Which one makes you move fast? Perpetuate either one by giving it more of your time and energy. Following the tug on your heart does not eliminate the mental challenges. It requires a conscious choice to align with whichever one you want to guide you in your ultimate direction. The heart asks you to let go. The mind asks you to hold on. What the mind doesn’t know yet, the heart does. This is the practice of teaching the mind to trust something new. Notice any victory, large or small in your life, and remember how your heart felt. Travel back to the time when the mind didn’t believe it could happen. Let it connect the dots. Let it see the path from impossible to possible. Let it see the bridge of faith. Let it see the wisdom of the heart. When the mind follows the heart, they are an unstoppable force. What beckons you?
AVAILABLE
Find your feet. See how you have stepped into the reality of your making. Your potential has come to fruition. Feel this fully. Ground down. Allow the pull of gravity to lessen your load as you surrender to the support beneath you. What was potential is now realized. Begin again to find new potential. Allow something to end so something else can begin. Expose yourself to the atmosphere where you want to live. Make it known where you are going. Talk about it. Be about it. Your future is starting to recognize your voice. It is starting to take you seriously. When you stay consistent, a pattern is created. This is the way of nature. It is both predictable and mysterious. Keep going, even if the way leads you back to a place you came from. You don’t have to see the whole picture. Trust. Find your feet.
