I revisited some old journals earlier this week. I found a quote I wrote down about the way people make decisions.
Very successful people make decisions relatively quickly and change them very slowly.
Less successful people make decisions relatively slowly, and change them very quickly.
-successful: know, decide, commit, start, take time, tweak over time, trust process, stick with it
-less successful: snap decisions, stall on committing, not starting, change when things get hard, abandon the plan
I made a pretty big decision back in January. I decided, committed, and started. I have taken the time. I have tweaked things since then. I have trusted the process to the best of my ability. I have stuck with it. Everything about this decision has been internal up until now. It will begin playing out in my external life over the next several months. I will share more on that eventually, but for now, you might sense this is an exciting time in the daily writings.
I am writing these in real time, ideally one each day. Sometimes, I end up writing two, three max on one day to catch up on one or two missed days. Overall, these are messages coming through in real time, very relevant for me, and I daydream that they are for you too.
These are the makings of my first book. I don’t know if I am breaking some big rule by writing my book in public on Substack. There is more organization to it, which I am not including each week. But here it is if you’d like to follow along. It might add to your experience as you read each week.
Three overall sections for the calendar year
January - April (UNRAVEL)
May - August (UNCOVER)
September - December (UNDERSTAND)
Each month has its own descriptor as well
Mapped so far:
APRIL - EXPOSED
MAY - UNDERGROUND
JUNE - OVERGROUND
JULY - GROW
AUGUST - BLOOM
Remember what we said about decisions: they can change slowly over time as we trust and work with the process. I decided to write this book in a moment. I am letting it reveal itself to me, and I am diligently working to transcribe what I discover.
It’s nice bringing you along. It doesn’t feel so lonely. Thank you for being here. It takes the edge off the shadows and brings that certain layer of glow to the light.
I hope you have a wonderful first week of June.
SUNDAY
EASE
Just because it feels easy doesn’t mean it’s wrong. We became so accustomed to striving and forcing and proving. We now hold what we lost sight of in our constant exertion. We are more efficient now. There is more space to enjoy. Notice if your mind is trying to create or solve a problem that doesn’t exist. Catch and pause your default to add unnecessary filler to this new space you feel. Take some time. Revive those ancient joys like the breeze on your skin or your favorite food… your favorite anything. Be in this space until you have a relentless hunch for what truly belongs there as you move forward. As you continue to grow, you will fill it out naturally. You won’t have to reach outside of you. It’s all here now. Keep cultivating this new ground. You are almost to the surface. Then you will see all the changes manifesting around you too. You are close, and you don’t have to speed up or try harder. Stay the course. Just because it feels easy doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
MONDAY
STEADY
Your calm state is of utmost importance. Is the growth of a flower chaotic and sporadic? Notice a person who is well-seated in themselves- confident. Do they rush through their sentences? No, they take the time to tell the story. We’ve often enjoyed when others tell a story, especially the details. It may be a new sensation for you to be the one telling the story. You’re not taking up too much time. There are not more important things than what you are saying or doing. They are not waiting for you to finish talking. They are listening to you. So allow yourself to be listened to. For every action, there is a reaction. If you become an uncertain host, the environment around you becomes uncertain as well. If you are whole and undivided everywhere you go, the environments are not disrupted. You each can stand alone, whether you jive or not. And because you are undivided, you accept that your energy will not resonate everywhere. A sunflower will not grow in a pond, and a lotus will. Your calm state is of utmost importance.
TUESDAY
DETERMINED
When we follow a dream, we reach a point of no return. Although things are not fully fleshed out, far from fully manifested, you see and feel the light enough to know you are about to break through. Your roots are established. You have risen well beyond the place where you broke open. You finally know you have outgrown this place, without anybody else telling you it’s so. It is your own inner knowing. You hum in the resounding trust in yourself, the universe, the Divine. You notice every little thing about every single day. You sense how things are about to change. You take nothing for granted. Wherever this light is pulling you into could very well require more sacrifice. You’ve already noticed. Certain things that used to satisfy and comfort you have become dull. You seek a new vibration, a new frequency. You no longer fret about challenges ahead. You know they are always a part of the growth equation. Enjoy these moments while they last and then be carried on. You are about to cross over. When we follow a dream, we reach a point of no return.
WEDNESDAY
INCONVENIENCE
There is a bigger picture. You have adjusted your dial to larger things at play. You are gradually tuning out of perpetual cycles. The hamster wheel of trying to keep everyone happy. The wheel will keep spinning as long as you run on it. Chasing the end of a task list like a mirage in the desert. The chase will never cease if that’s the only thing you’re looking for. These are not good compasses for the direction you already chose. Make your decisions from your own true north, the place of peace you find when you zoom out. Often this means disappointing someone else. If the disappointed one could keep you here, they would. It would be easy for the soil to reabsorb the flower’s roots if the flower never surfaced. You are not in that kind of soil. You chose this new ground, which nourished your full potential. You can expect disruption as you leave the underground and burst into the overground. Surrender your worry of getting trampled on. Your roots here have not been weighing you down. They have formed the base of your wings. When you emerge and feel the new air, you will fly. There is a bigger picture.
THURSDAY
TRUST
Follow your gut. Notice if your mind keeps interrupting your intuition, tirelessly trying to connect dots and check boxes. The inner sense doesn’t stay within any lines. Over and over, you boomerang back to the center place in your body. It pulls and will not be swayed. Lay down the thoughts. Relax in the pool of instinct. This is the leap. You expected to jump into thin air, but instead it will be thick space. When you don’t cut corners, the integrity of your support is sound. Nothing from behind pulls you to look back over your shoulder. Your vision is focused here and now. The next step takes you through. You will see what you’ve sought. Give yourself a chance for goodbye. This is the last time you’ll be here. You will break through. Follow your gut.
FRIDAY
SEE
This time, it’s not too good to be true. Inhale deeply. Look all around. Take it in. New light and space touches you. You are magnetically pulled into the vast openness. You merged with the dark to emerge into light. Everything before is still a part of you. You would not be this exact version of yourself if one single thing from your past differed in any way. It all made you this. It all made you you. Walk relaxed. There is something for all of your senses here. It was not all wishful fantasies back there under the dirt. Much was a promise. A promise that the future is not doomed. A promise that something wonderful is happening. You saw the signs. There is no rush. This is your new home for a while. Let it radiate onto you. You will not be harmed. You prepared well for this. Well done, good and faithful one. How do you like your new sight? It is yours to keep. This time, it’s not too good to be true.
SATURDAY
NAME
What do you want to call yourself now? For example, you’ve been a seed, and then roots growing into a stem. Now you are a sprout, exposed. You know you are a flower, and you accept the stages it takes to become fully manifested. Maybe it’s not so much about what you identify as. It’s more about having a marker for yourself. A flag in the land where you’ve just arrived. Have a sacred ceremony. Celebrate with something savory. Take a trip to a place you love. Honor your life. Play your favorite songs. Talk about memories out loud with someone. Let all the chapters of your journey, which once seemed so separate, now weave together seamlessly. What color is it? Mixture of colors? Give it a title. It’s yours. It can keep building on itself and changing at the same time. This is the nature of the spirit. It never changes and simply recreates itself. It is the flower heart in the tiny sprout. It is the eternal soul in the pair of lungs. A dear loved one of mine used to call me “Many Hats.” We all like to put on our hats and declare to the world each new hat we put on. Fashion is fun. Why not try on more? Same crown, different hat. Go on, display it well. If you like it, we like it. What do you want to call yourself now?
“Just because it feels easy doesn’t mean it’s wrong.” So relatable. Rock on!
Excellent ! Write on!!
